INTERMEDIATE/ ADVANCED WHITEWATER RIVERS AFON AERON (Ciliay Aeron to Aberaeron) - great in spate. NANT CLYDACH - a short difficult gorge near Pontypridd. (photos) LOWER CLYDACH RIVER - short grade 4 blast in Clydach. AFON DOETHIE - very remote paddling near Llyn Brianne. (photos) CWM DU - a short grade 3-4. AFON DULAIS (Crynant to Aberdulais) - Neath Tributary with a harder rapid. AFON EDW (Cregina to Wye Confluence) - a moderately easy Wye tributary. AFON GRWYNE FAWR (Grwyne Fawr Reservoir to the Usk) - Exciting Usk tributary. RIVER HEPSTE - Worth the slog to get to it. (photos) RIVER HONDDU - Usk trib, finishes with an urban gorge! RIVER IRFON - a little paddled mid-Wales gem. (photos) RIVER MELLTE - Take your boat walking for a day. (photos) AFON NEDD FECHAN - a great spate run near to the Hepste and Mellte. (photos) AFON NYFER - a grade 3 spate tree ditch near Newport, with a harder top section. RIVER RHONDDA FACH - an easier warmup before the Rhondda Fawr. RIVER RHONDDA FAWR (Porth to Hopkinstown)- a possibly unique urban big water experience! (photos) RIVER SAWDDE (Llwynfron to Three Horseshoes Pub) - a good addition to the lower Sawdde gorge. (photos) RIVER SAWDDE (three Horseshoes Pub to River Twyi confluence) - a lovely little gorge. (photos) RIVER TAFF FECHAN - the raging river of Merthyr Tydfil. (photos) RIVER TARELL - grade 3 Usk tributary. RIVER TAWE (Glyntawe to Abercraf) - the opposite of the upper section, but still great! RIVER TEIFI (Llandysul to Cenarth Falls) - a pleasant flatwater trip with a (very) few harder rapids or portages. RIVER TWRCH - another boat-carry...but worth it if it's been raining! RIVER TYWI (Above Llyn Brianne) - remote exploratory paddle! RIVER TYWI (Llyn Brianne to Junction Pool) - classic Welsh grade 4 pooldrop.
