GUIDE TO GLENMUIR WATER
NAME OF RIVER: Glenmuir water (locally known as "the cubes")
WATER LEVEL, ACCESS AND HAZARD UPDATES: Here.
WHERE IS IT?: Lugar nr. Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. OS sheet 71.
PUT-INS/ TAKE-OUTS: In at bridge 613203, out at bridge 594214, or carry on down the Lugar, a good 2/3 run till it meets the Ayr.
APPROX LENGTH: 3 km.
TIME NEEDED: 1 hour.
ACCESS HASSLES: Very few descents so no problems yet, please try not to cause any.
WATER LEVEL INDICATORS: Spate conditions required.
GRADING: Grade 4+ and 5.
MAJOR HAZARDS/ FALLS: Trees, tractor tyres etc.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: A very tight, continuous gorge with many drops and blind corners. Take great care on exit of gorge if the water is particularly high.
