The photos below are in order to show the main rapids as you reach them.
Chris Wheeler boofs the first big ledge drop, starting the first 'crux' section. High water.
Andy McMahon opts for the river river chute, same day.
Same place as Andy Mc, low water.
Mark Rainsley in the midst of the rapid below the ledge drop, high water. Hairy! The river left bank is undercut and the final fall has a shallow stopper.
'7 foot vertical drop' in guide. Pic from Nick Mawer.
Same fall, from Tim C
Simon Wiles halfway down the Gorge, below the first crux section ('7 foot vertical drop' in the guide). The rapid behind is the same as that in the photo above. Medium water levels, still making the gorge a rather hair-raising Grade 5.
Same drop, low water, grade 4+. Note that the rock beside Paul is nearly covered in the above shot! Paddler: Paul Simmons.
Drop between the two 'crux' sections. High water.
Drop between the two 'crux' sections. Lower water.
Lead-in to the final big drop in the gorge ('6 foot vertical drop' in the guide). Paddler: Mark Rainsley. Low water.
Above - two pics of the last drop, backed up by a wall on river left.
Mark Rainsley and Chris Wheeler getting extended beatings in the stopper below the final drop, high water. Only one of these paddlers emerged still in their boat...! Note the rock ledge just covered...if there is water flowing over this, the gorge is pretty high.
Someone or other with orange blades running the drop. Low water.
The drop viewed from downstream. Low water.
Chris Pottinger runs the last drop, very low water.
Chris Wheeler retrieves his kit after a tussle with the final drop's sticky hole, high water.
