Anyone else do the Avon Descent today?
What a great way to spend a Sunday morning. River in flood, squally wind blowing against the flow; eddies, boils, standing waves ... everything. Some weirs washed out, others very interesting - the 4' standing wave at Welford was fun.

Not as long as the Exe; not as big as the Exe, but definitely as much fun as the Exe.

Eight of us came down from Macclesfield (four boats). A good time was had by all (even the swimmers seemed content). A very enjoyable event. Thanks to all the organisers for putting it on and providing safety cover, etc.
I was glad I was in the back seat when we hit the wave at the 4th weir!

Yeah, the Welford Wall of Water is great fun - unless you swim, of course.
