For everyone, please remember, that this day membership insurance is ONLY 3rd party liability insurance - it covers you for accidents that you may cause to others, not yourself or your property. If you want personal insurance, BCU/Snowcard/etc are the places to go.

Yes, at the moment, that is what we (did last year) and will be doing this year as well.

That is the problem that we have hit. The question is, how can they, as club members, prove to me that they are in fact insured? It is something that the SCA board is considering (club membership) at the moment, and this is one of the problems that are evident. I have been asked by our insurance company, to make sure that all event participants are insured, in this case, at least third party only.
This year, it is not really a problem, as the membership/insurance is included in the £15, but in future years, we will have to ask non-members to pay a little more to cover the insurance. How we will verify club members, I have no idea at the moment. It is a real problem. The other thought that there I see is, are the members insured individually all the time, only on a club trip, on a club trip with suitable leadership qualifications, etc!?!

of their own insurance (eg. Snowcard at an appropriate activity level) ?
This, again, is something that I can do nothing about this year. I hope, that in future, SEPA will agree release dates very early in the year, and anyone in this position, and club secretaries will be able to forward details to me before the event, we can then forward them to the insurance company to say 'ok (to the third party liability stuff)'!
Sorry that they are probably not the answers that you want to hear, but the tight schedule and short manpower have left us pushed!!
