well, it's nearly upon us, so who's going to be there??

At Skye last year I was able to put faces to a few names - mostly the scottish contingent obviously. It would be great to meet up with others and add some more faces to my memories!

Cheers

Same weekend I believe, and easier to get to with boat for a weekend! Hope the weather is kind for trips out to Farnes and St Abbs head.
Did anyone go to ASSC Symposium this year? - last time I went was a couple of years ago.

There's a minibus going from Wirral with 14 people in it.

Unfortunately I am not one of them.

thank god for that - I thought I was gonna have to explain to my wife why I wasn't going to be around when I said I was, to work why I'd booked the wrong week off work, and to Poole Harbour Canoe Club why I can't now run them their Level 2 training!!

phew... ;-)

Who's coming to the Northumberland & Borders Sea Kayak Symposium? Jerey is just too far away from Inverness....for a weekend.

Cailean, what a let down - after Rich, Mark & I ventured all the way North to Skye last year for Gordon's weekend, we were planning on seeing you down here!!

Still, I know how difficult it is getting passports, requesting visas etc - afterall, we don't just let anyone into England these days... no wait, what am I saying, this is England of course we do...

Disappointed, of Weymouth

Hello Cailean,

There are three or four folk from Inverness CC going down to the N&BSKS with a couple more still thinking about it.

Cheers,

Neil.

Neil,

We will see you there.

Bertie,

I have put Scottish customs and border service on high alert for you the next time you attempt to enter the land of Highlander and Braveheart!?!

;-) Jersey is simply too far mate but I'm sure it will be warmer than the water around Northumberland /Borders over the May Bank Holiday. Are you coming North for the Level 5 conference at Glenmore Lodge in December???

Hi Cailean, I'm hoping to be there in Glenmore, that's provided my passport is still indate, and I have the necessary visas.

Where I live, Weymouth, there used to be a sign as you drove north out of Weymouth towards Dorchester reading 'Welcome to the North, please have your passport ready'.

Wonder if that was the same signwriters who put the England signs on the Tamar Bridge just as you leave Cornwall!

you don`t really need a sign to show you`re leaving the land of milk & honey !

Looking hopeful for the Lodge but it is a long way !

Bertie,

For a few wee drams at the Lodge bar I will arrange the 'Border Police' to go easy on Richard and yourself ;-)

Here's some airlines who fly into Inverness and Glasgow. You could blag lifts from either airport with ease or stay on for day or two boating? Long way for just the weekend. Could arrange boats if your interested gents.

To Glasgow (2.5hrs from Lodge)

Bristol with Easyjet
Exeter with Flybe
Southampton with Flybe

To Inverness (45mins from Lodge)

Bristol with Easyjet

Cheers

Cailean, that's you justifying your absence from Jersey - I and some friends drove up to Grandtown on Spey just for New Year's Eve - I have other friends with influence over the border police!

Cheers for the flight info, that'll prove useful definately

I am driving down to Poole to get to Jersey. I wont be on the water all the time because I am giving an illustrated talk on Scottish Paddling on the Saturday afternoon.

Been to Jersey before, got some paddling as a guest of Kevin and Chris and the Jersey CC. Its an amazing coast.

Douglas, Rich

Thankfully, the weather has calmed down a bit, and Condor have not cancelled any sailings today (the first day for a while).

Looks like we won' t have to resort to plan B and paddle out ;-)

Hi Bertie, I am just back from work in pretty atrocious conditions, even by Scottish standards. In addition to the wind and rain, it is only 6 degrees C.

I am just about to start packing and aim to leave about 11 pm to get to Weymouth for about 730 to allow some slack to catch the 10am tomorrow to Jersey if it sails!

My WWW seems to be all used up at the moment PISH! The calming of the Corryvreckan must have used more of it up than I thought!

See you all in Jersey soon (I hope!!)
