Inspired by Paula's comments on the thread regarding missing paddler in Norway , I just would like to add some of my experience.
Our group became involved with the tragedy on the Jori .All of the people involved were fantastic under the circumstances.
After the rescue was completed , not looking foreward to a soaked evening in treeless zone , unable to rig a tarp properly , with a few tiny pop up tents , we elected to go to a restaurant in Dombas , sod the expense. Whilst there we were appraoched by a local girl.
As she became aware of the reason for our downcast demeanor , she offered for us all (9) to stay with her at the log cabin she had in the nearby mountains ! All aware we needed a lift , we took up her offer.
About 20 miles up the road (apparently 15k!) , we followed her to a remote "ponderosa" type log cabin , set on a plateau with mountains in the far distance all around. Water was in the nearby stream , and no electric . Candles were lit , everyone proffered a drink , snacks placed on the old table , and logs were set on the fire. Some old antique horns and a wooden flute were passed around , and we all had a blast and a giggle. We talked long into the twilight of the early hours , sharing experiences , good and bad. We slept in a warm dry comfortable place , all the better for it in the morning.
We got to know the girl quite well , who went on to spend some time with us at Sjoa. I would just like to say....."Thanks Liv".

Great story hardy - I'd like to think we'd show the same here in the uk though I doubt it.

I think you would be surprised by the British then Justin, I am positive we would offer similar comfort and shelter should it happen here.
