Anyone had any experience of flying via Dubia with Emirates then over to Nepal with their partners FlyDubai? The policies state that if booked together, FlyDubai will honour Emirates baggage policy, which allows for a kayak. The Emirates help desk confirmed that for me today ("confirmed" meaning reading the same web pages I'd highlighted back to me, not 100% convincing!), and I'm just looking for any more stories from people who've tried it....?
Cheers

Re: Emirates and FlyDubia with kayaks to Nepal?
I have never flown with either of those airlines, but a friend recently came over to Nepal with Fly Dubai and they told him he couldn't fly with a kayak even though he phoned ahead.
I recently flew with Qatar no problem, the kayak was just part of my 30kg weight allowance. When I got there, they didn't even weight it, they were more concerned with helping me carry all my luggage (Also, they seem to be the cheapest airlines at the moment as well!)
From my experience, Jet are also good with boats.
Good luck!

Sad to say. FlyDubai are a no-no with boats.
As for Qatar I got stung for excess baggage last year - good service mind you.
See you in the flow

Re: Emirates and FlyDubai with kayaks to Nepal?
Are either of these bad experiences with FlyDubai in relation to flights booked with Emirates only using FlyDubai for a connecting onwards flight? If they were just individual bookigns with FlyDubai, then my current understanding is that they would not allow kayaks.
My understanding so far is that FlyDubai on their own will not allow kayaks, but if booked thru Emirates, then the baggage rules of the "longer flight" / main carrier will be honoured by the smaller operator. This was true of BMI connecting flights when using Virgin for the main flight, and is what Emirates are currently saying.
I've pinged FlyDubai for more confirmation, hoping it comes back the same as Emirates told me....any mor einfo greatly appreciated...
Cheers

Re: Emirates and FlyDubia with kayaks to Nepal?
Hi,
We flew to Nepal under a emirates ticket, that connected to a fly Dubai flight, they took the boats, we were over weight but they didn't charge us much! Boats turned up in katmandu, they tried to argue it on our return flight but we had the print offs from the we saying it went on emirates baggage policy, so they excepted them!
That was 1.5 years ago now, do they still link with fly Dubai? I couldn't find it last time I looked on the emirates website?
