Looking at all the vids people are making it does seem that the old Perception Corsica has become rather popular, along with other boats such as the one in this video http://vimeo.com/42001511
I know it would be easy to say that these boats are being used purely out of novelty, but is there something more? Do they have desirable characteristics that aren't available in more modern boats?

They're, long, fast, readily available and cost a fraction of the price of buying a Green Boat, Stinger or Donsa... After all "Life is Racing, Everything before and after is just waiting"
That's before you get into the nostalgia of paddling the boats you learned in...

For me, I enjoy old boats. For example the corsica 3.3m of 1990s pleasure- I enjoy the nostalgia- I always wanted one when I learnt how to paddle, but was never good enough. Old style boats require different skill sets. Our USA friends have been using long boats for years on races.
The pyranha fusion whilst a new boat arcs to an era of speed. The migo240 is still fun to paddle to see the development to the shiva. Modern boats are safer, staying on the surface most of the time. Techniques have advanced, boofing etc is easier and hell we no longer feel the need to T-Bird. (Check D.Ammons cover on the aqua azul)
Paddling an old boat now and then is a pure pleasure a living space where we can experience the evolution of our sport.
