Re-attaching the valve

Postby Big Henry » Thu May 10, 2012 11:54 am

The valve on my Sweet Cheeks has come off (actually the tube part split). I've cut the tube square and tried heating it and pushing it back into the valve, but that lasted one trip. So any suggestions of what to use to re-attach it? (Don't just say glue, please, say what type!)

Thanks.

Stormsure and Stormseal pretty much glue anything to anything.

Stick some aquasure on the outside of the tube and wedge it into the valve.

Maybe not a permenant fix but I reattached an airbag valve with duct tape.

Was going to do a proper job at a later date but its still airtight 6 months later.

Bit of a problem with glue; the tube is probably pvc and the fitting looks like ABS. The best glue would probably be vinyl adhesive or the solvent weld used for waste pipes. These might be a bit agressive for the flimsey tube. I like the tape suggestion but I would probably go with insulating tape because it doesn't dry out like gaffer tape does.

I emailed Jackson just before I posted this question (they had initially suggested heating it) and I have just got a reply which I thought I would share in case it happens to anyone else:
Jackson wrote:I would try aqua seal or contact cement.

So I have bought some Evo-stick Contact and given that a go.
