Great Stuff. The low branch dodgeing half way through is sooooo funny.

Liked that, it makes you feel good when you realise it is not just you it doesn't always work out for.

Loved it. That drop at 3:40 was cool and as for that hole at the end of the film...
A nice reminder to not paddle too close too.

Scary in parts but loved it. Some how reassuring to know it's not just me...

Classic west-of-Ireland tree-strewn shallow ditches filled with soft rocks and hard branches :)
Scary pins though.
FYI the drop at 3.40 is the Top Drop on the Boluisce river in flood. The same drop is seen from upstream at 0.30.
It flows through Spiddal, about 20kms from the city of Galway. It was usually categorized as a IV+/V drop, and tended to break boats at the kink left on the river right side of the slide. River left is a *nasty* drop into boulders. The rest of the river is III and a nice beginner river for the most part,

Stay upright and lean into the turn and you wont break your boat. Its a lovely section. Its high water not in flood. Like you said though the Boluisce is a dam release river which is awesome for beginners. The lower section has also been used many times for WW races.
A lot of the footage here is taken from the same shallow ditch river called the Kip, so its not a real reflection of paddling in the west of Ireland just one technical river which causes plenty of problems.
If bored and want a real refection on paddling in the west have a look at:

Hilarious yet terrifying. I liked how the suggestions box next to the vid on youtube was something by the muppets...

''Footage collected over 2 years''. Bit out of order to say that mate. We paddle year round whenever we can. Its pretty rare that this carnage happens, just a compilation of when it did.
