Ropes in the Allan: Significant hazard!

Postby james fleming » Wed Dec 28, 2011 12:50 pm

FYI…There is a significant hazard on the river Allan at grid NS 784 997.

The river flows under a railway bridge, before the ‘wall of death’.
There are ropes dangling from the bridge dragging in the water. There are other loops above the current water level and in higher water will be dangerous.

I’m not sure if it’s related to the ‘works’ going on in the area, but I have contacted the principle contractor and posed a question to them.

I would be interested to see what their reasons are for having these ropes there, never seen that on a bridge job before ?

We paddled the Allan this morning, the ropes have been removed.

There is another hazard at the first railway bridge below Ashfield, there is a tree blocking the central arch, left and right were OK.
