Each year (usually by February) in Scotland SEPA produce a long list of the freshets from the various hydro dams in Scotland. I have browsed the SCA website and "Wheres the water". I cant find it anywhere.
Please can someone email me a copy of the list or a link to where it can be found?
thanks

Re: List of Dam releases in Scotland 2012
Many Thanks for that John. Unless it is very different to last year this is a very incomplete list.
Last year for example it included info on 12 1day releases on the Lyon as well as info on the dates the higher summer flow levels started & finished on the Awe etc etc for page after page.
Where's the water similarly only has dates for the Garry & the Moriston

Re: List of Dam releases in Scotland 2012
Hi Neil Can you email me the whole list and I will pull off the ones I am looking for & pass them back for inclusion on the list.
Surely the whole list should be available to download from the SCA website anyway??
Also did we get any change from overnight saturday/sunday to all day sunday on the Awe which we have been requesting for years. Winter 2010/2011 SEPA said they had to check salmon migration numbers day / night differences before they would agree to this. This should have been a quick job working off various fish pass(eg Pitlochry) counters assuming they show the time.
Thanks

Hi Stuart, if I still have the list, will email it tomorrow (for everyone else out there, it's not secret, just not very readable!). If I forget, please remind me, going to be a long night, baby boy has been sick all over me 4times today already....

Neil hope you slept.
I now have the list from Eddie Palmer. There are lots of changes it would appear to the Awe freshets including a mention of changes to the basic compensation flows unfortunately without saying what those changes are. This could mean that the normal summer flow is either higher or more likely lower (to allow for the extra freshets) than previous years.
We could also do with dates for the Extra freshets. Any idea who we contact in SEPA about this.
cheers
Stuart

Hi Stuart, best way is through Eddie Palmer. A while back we decided on that route of communication to avoid any confusion on who spoke for the SCA. got a little sleep!

Is there any reason why the Morriston (Dundreggan dam) only releases mid week? If the releases are purely for the salmon I don't imagine the fish care what day of the week the releases are!

Not that I know of, just the way it always has been. No idea of why Tuesday (or midweek) was historically chosen, but I imagine it had something to do with the working week (pre centrally controlled releases) & tha Garry/Moriston on different days to help manage the Oich/Ness levels.
We (SCA) managed to get one release a month moved to a Saturday one year, but. It since. It's work in progress.
