stupid paddle wagons- 107, C1, Aygo etc

Hej

I've always been a fan of the over sized paddle wagons, my last was a slick Audi A4 Estate it was fast, comfy and you lug a lot of boats, beers and paddlers in/on it.

I have however moved to London from abroad and my use for a car has changed, I want a car I can leave somewhere and it won't cost me the earth to keep it there in tax, insurance and parking. If I was to buy one of these stupid cars the plus side is that I would feel happy leaving it there doing nothing and it would cost me nothing (£20 tax p.a., £35 p.m.insurance)! I see the major negs would be owning one of these tiny cars would dent my pride, they cost more than an old banged up fiesta to buy outright, long distance driving with a boat on top would no doubt take longer and I would have to explain to my folks "yes I have a stupid car but no I'm not gay".

I should also add I don't know many other paddlers nearby so I have no need for a 4 person car.

So my questions are:

1. Can you fit a playboat into an Aygo, C1 or 107?
2. What are they like to drive with creek boats on top?
3. Has anyone got any feedback they'd like to share?

No offence to anyone who already has one :)

Not sure about the Aygo, but my Corsa drives fine with an Essence 17 on top. Has the added bonus of carrying two bikes on the built-in Flex Fix bicycle rack; potentially managing 2 boats and 2 bikes simultaneously!

hi,

iv got a peogeot 107 and I can get my pyranha molan [s] in it. thurle do not do roof racks for either this, the c1 or aygo. I can get a peugeot roof rack but I cant use the thurle one I had on my yaris.

I used to have a yaris and I could get the molan in it with room to spare. the yaris was more accomodating than the 107 but I now get 60mpg as opposed to 50 mpg.

the peugeot is a much nicer drive than the yaris, not that im moaning about the yaris it was the best car iv ever had [out of 15] and I did 130 k in it and it was still going when I traded it in!

I hope that helps.

Hey
I drove a 106 for the last 2 years as my paddle wagon. Whilst not in the same league as an estate it was v good. With back seats down there was space to get a play boat in, and I drove to south of France with 3 creek boats on the roof with no dramas. Is also good for the wallet cos your fuel bills will be amazing compared to a big car, even with boats on. Managed to sleep in the back as well when the weather was less favourable, although I couldn't stretch out completely. Can sell you my roof rack 3 door adaptor if your interested
