Having now made the jump after 5years living in Newquay, I've finally laid up the freestyle boat in favour of a Proton. Why, why why did I wait so bloody long! The speed is awesome, however, here is the problem.... I don't know any local surf kayakers, and its definitely gonna be even more fun going with others.
As much as I loved being the only kayak in the very local standup lineup at Crantock on Sunday fighting for prime take off spot, it'd be great to get some advice, share some trips etc. with some others who appreciate why I choose to sit on my arse whilst surfing.
So if anyone's feeling charitable, perhaps they'd like to get in touch and go for a wave - please don't be put off by the fact I'm new to surf kayaking - I've been getting hamered in sizeable conditions in my plastic tub for years, so I'm not gonna be a liability, and am not looking for safety cover - just some mates, sad I know, but I hear the internet is how you meet people nowadays! Lol!
Oh and as I said - live in Newquay, work is nr Truro - so can travel easy to most of Cornwall.
Ant.

Re: Cornish surfers?
You'll most likely see other surf kayakers at Polzeath and Bude.

Re: Cornish surfers?
Bude? Isn't that in Devon? Lol! Bit far for me on a weekday, dawn and after work sessions don't afford the driving time, esp at this time of year!
Polzeath - not one of my usual breaks, but I'll give it a go, tbh only time I've seen any surf kayaks out anywhere was a week or two ago, when it was massive everywhere, so everyone in cornwall seemed to be surfing at the same sheltered spot, but they weren't from Cornwall anyhow.
Anyone who actually lives here?

Re: Cornish surfers?
That sounds promising, cheers chillipepper. I've got a red and white proton, and drive a black VW Caddy Maxi, you won't miss it. The conditions look alright for Sennen this weekend, Saturday looks good for swell direction but a stronger cross/offshore wind, with sundays swell swinging off the ideal but the wind dropping in strength a bit.
If you're gonna be out at all at the weekend it'd be cool to meet a few fellow locals, a quick heads up as to where you'll be on here would be great. I will definitely be in the water somewhere, so will try and introduce myself.
Cheers,
Ant
