Re: New forum
Should be useful - not too late this year for mackerel, garfish, bass and mullet in Poole Harbour and Bay at the very least...
The First Rule of Kayak Angling is "do have a knife on your person at all times and make sure before getting on water it's not siezed..."
The Second is "do not have a back-up plan for nosh on an overnighter... catch or go hungry!".
How about a Third?... "be prepared to come undone if you think pulling in a fish is any easier than taking a photo with your paddle down if going for a tippy boat/confused sea combo...."
In your view MarkR, would it be more appropriate for any posts relating to potting or manual shore/rock gathering for shellfish to appear on here, or the Sea and Surf forum?

Re: New forum
It'll be interesting to see how much traffic comes through here. So how many forum regulars gave given kayak fishing a try? I've known a few sea kayakers to trail a mackerel trace, but what about the more serious fish? I was lucky enough to go fishing for great lakes salmon of fa SoT on lake michigan, great fun and great tasting fish too!
Old School?? I miss my AQII..

Re: New forum
I have been a member here and used the site for research when looking for places to paddle in my sink, I have an OK Prowler13 SOT for fishing. I am also an active member of Anglers Afloat and NorthWales Kayak Fishing. I am also a member of SOTP. No sinister motive for the non-fishing sites just see them as a great resource for paddle trips and entertaining blogs.
Not sure how many of the serious kayak anglers will come here but hopefully enough to be able to advise members who are toying with the idea of doing more than just trolling a string of feathers.

Re: New forum
When my family fiurst got into kayaking, my little brother took a bright orange sit on top, and sat in the bay with a telescopic rod, we laughed as he left, then sort of forgot about him till he came running back up the beach to tell us their was a live bass (about a foot long) on his boat. I think we was about 10 at the time.

A whole new audience Mark.
I am sure they will enjoy your contributions as we do elsewhere.

Nice one Mark,
I'm a kayak angler that decided to take a few lessons to learn how to paddle properly. Now I'm total "hooked' on Sea Kayaking. I got my girlfriend in to it also, and we both own proper Sea kayaks.
My Prowler 13 Angler doesn't get much use now, and the one that I bought for my girlfriend has never even been in the water.
There seem to be plenty other kayak anglers who also own Sea Kayaks.

Yes, me too. Love it but still fish from my kayak an awful lot.
The bug has bitten deep, surf, rock garden, sea-caving, night paddling...
Brilliant and, yes, this addition to the forum will be useful as long it stays neutral in the politics dept.

Re: New forum
without going into politics, I find it astounding how much a kayak-angler(?) can spend on tricking out a sit-on-top.
