canoe coaching

Hi all,
I've recently got my 3 star open canoe and have done a little bit of training with Ray Goodwin. I'm thinking of booking another weekend's training with him next year to do some stuff on the lower Treweryn but would like to get a bit more experience of paddling easy/moderate grade 2 beforehand. Can anyone recommend any clubs in the midlands (I live in Mancetter, near Tamworth) that have decent open canoe coaches or experienced (4 star or above) open boaters who would be willing to give some informal coaching to a relative newbie? I'd be interested in doing trips that are fairly local (within about an hour and a half's drive from me: Matlock Bath, Jackfield etc).

Just joined Manchester CC at Marple for almost the same reason as you. I'm pushing 4 star this year and thought it would be good to meet some like minded paddlers. They have open boats and some spec boats I think but I've not been along since my firsdt visit due to illness so have not chatted with anyone about canoeing.
