I'm excited to See some genuine competition in the OC1 class for a change (with Bob McKee GBR & Eli Hebert USA from Big Dog [and on their third and fourth worlds respectively] doing battle with Blackfly Canoes propreitor and reigning champ Jeremy Laucks USA & dark horse [but potential contender] Dane Jackson USA), though what I'd really like to see one of the old timers bring it back in a cutdown Ocoee.

I'm more excited to see if Martin CAN can achive any success in the men's squirt event paddling [my] c-squirt.

I'm unable, however to give the "main events" even the (possibly mock?) enthusiasm that Mark seems to have.

You're right, events that other people are interested in are so passé.

There is some strong British and European competition in all fields. It's not showing off the most impressive end of freestyle paddling, but the athleticism and technical skills on show are hugely impressive.

I think Kayak Session is probably the best place to keep an eye on the goings on. Does anyone know if Freecaster are showing it again?

It doesn't look like it, pity, I enjoyed watching the last one.

Not at all, I just feel the Senior K1 events tend toward being dull [admittedly, partially due to the number of competitors] and having fairly predictable results... (of course I could be wrong, plattling seems to be a rather different feature to the last couple of world champs and might even out the playing field). Your mileage may vary.

I'll be interested to see if the massive leap in the standard of the Junior Ladies comp with Nouria Newmann's performance in 2009 has left a lasting impact, and of course I couldn't not be rooting for Bren Orton in the Junior Mens class. Then obviously the UK has fielded strong competitors in the squirt events as long as I've been aware of it*, and of course I'm waiting to see if Dave Bainbridge holds onto his title.

Surely I'm not the sole person interested in all the "sundry" events?

*Not all *that* long.
