Peter,
I am organising a fun event here and not a political crusade!
There is a standard fee at Mile end Mill, if you don't like it thats fair enough.....If you want to change that fair enough.
Plenty of folk have expressed an interest and are looking forwards to enjoying the day.

Please don't try and use this as a vehicle for your rebellion, if you dont like the situation comment elsewhere!...and if you really don't like it. don't come!
but don't try and spoil other peoples hard work and fun..!!

I am not looking to subvert your event, that was a genuine question and I didn't know that there is a 'standard fee' as you put it at Mile End Mill. I do not want to spoil your event or other peoples hard work and fun.

It is obviously a touchy subject and I hope that it is well attended and is a great success?

These are the people you are giving money to...

You cannot ignore this sort of thing if you are going to paddle there. You need to be informed.

My point - my contention - is that you cannot pay money to these people and tell yourself that the politics are an irrelevance. Their behaviour has been so extreme and obnoxious, that the two issues cannot be divorced.

Maybe in your mind that is true...
However if you read the information in my origional post both the parties involved in the letters you post are supporting this event!!
They have have moved on....it seems you have not.
On a daily basis a large portion of the most respected businesses and names in our sport and community are happy to use this facility, they do so without any issues,so their clients & customers. I don't see any of them being made aware....

So why do you choose to pick on this this event?
Soft target? maybe you see it that way...its stinks!

I'm not picking on the event, I'm picking on your contention that the politics are not relevant. You are fully welcome to disagree.

Because I just read what you wrote two days ago. If I'd read it two days ago, I would have responded then.

It seems a shame that such a good idea to encourage more participation/paddling, has attracted so much political debate.

Already confirmed for OCDee are Wenonah, Big Dog and Robson who will be on site to ask questions about anything from Trad boats to decked C1 playboats and everything inbetween.
We will post more details as they arrive.

Hi all

This is going to be an awesome event,

Along with the suppliers turning up, we are going to put on a load of "come and try it" sessions so that people can try their hand at a various aspects of canoe sport including, complete first taste, trad skills (poling Lining tracking) Slalom, Spec Boat, freestyle etc.

Coaches are going to be about to give you pointers but not run specific coaching sessions, so keeping it informal and fun.

Going to be a few competitions, some daft, and some almost serious, prizes to be arranged before the even, Proadventure are donating a days canoe coaching as one of the prizes.

For a small fee to park and use the site, its going to be a great day.

Hi Folks,
Sadly the event has to be postponed to the 27th of Feb.
With record water levels last weekend the shadow was cast, however midweek the river was dropping fast and I was starting to get optomistic that we would be good to go!
Heavy overnight rain has seen the Dee pop up from 12 to the top of the gauge at 15 at lunchtime today, ...so there is no realistic chance of seeing a sensible level on Sunday.
Could you all please pass the news around as so many were planning to attend...I hope you will all be able to make the 27th.
