Anyone know if the recent rain has brought Burrs up enough to float on yet?

Had a mooch around the Burrs section (from the wier) Sun 18th. Fair bit of water, thought it would be really big but not a bad little run.

EA Gauge Calibration

37cm = Burrs is low but can be paddled without scraping.
42cm = High Low level. Rammie run just possible. May be a scrape in places.
75cm = High level. Big weir only doable down the steps which will have turned into just 2 big steps.
78cm = High Level. Broken weir all the way across river with very small eddy. Possible backloop on wave in Nutall gorge in playboats! TNT wave working. Big weir only doable down steps.
118cm = BIG! Wave under Burrs road bridge working as a playspot. Broken weir surfable from either side of river. Everything else washed out at Burrs. Big weir was a no go!

Nice job Rick.....

That's the most useful bit of info I've seen for ages.
I get upto the Burss fairly often and it's a pain to judge the level. It runs off really quickly and drops to low level even after a good down pour.

Cheers

Took a group on short trip Summerseat- Burrs today with EA gauge on 42cm.
There was plenty of water & I would have put it at a reasonable/ non-scrappy medium level - very few rocks visible.

Despite the large number of shopping trollies littering the river I had a really nice paddle today at the Burrs site.

The EA water gauge showed a steady 0.40 metres throughout our stay and all of the site was floatable in the main flow, if a little shallow around the banks and shingle beds. There were nice lines down all features including the old wier which went nicely on the RH side.
Even saw some brave souls shooting the big wier at the top of the site, which they made look easy. I'll have to try that next time.

The only other times I've been here its been well above 1 metre and not suitable for novices. At this level the Burrs site makes an excellent training venue, with a good cheep cafe. Will be bringing more people here.
