"EXPLORING THE RIVERS OF SIBERIA, MONGOLIA, AND VIETNAM"
York University are hosting an evening of tales from 3 young paddlers who like to go out and explore beyond the usual destinations, getting to know the local culture, the local wildlife, and ticking off a few first descents as they go.
Dave Burne
will be telling us more about why not to go to Mongolia if you have a fussy palate (along with a bit about the frustrations that can arise with exploratory boating, many pictures of Mongolian 1st descents, and an epic Siberian multiday trip)
Luke Farrington & Andy Jaunzems
will be explaining the difficulties that can occur when transporting 8 kayaks, 8 students, and a shed load of gear from China To Vietnam (but will also describe a 6 week long adventure in SE Asia discovering the whitewater potential of Vietnam's unexplored rivers)
Max Bilbow
will enlighten us on why it is useful to have a grasp of the Russian language when you’re stuck in Siberia with only a bunch of crazy local boaters (this is also giving a sneak preview of the sequel to his kayaking DVD Means of Production)
It will be a chance for you to meet new paddlers, hear about different cultures & lifestyles, see some incredible scenery, and hopefully be inspired (and at the same time getting a healthy dose of kayak porn).
