BCU Coaching conference - boat logistics

Postby Cobweb » Sun Dec 13, 2009 11:04 pm

Hi

I was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem as we do with the coaching conference in January. Much of the training sessions are in part on the water. We are told to "bring paddling kit". On speaking with the BCU we have been told there will be no boats available to borrow or hire.

As a volunteer coach based in central London, as are many of our club coaches, I am reliant on hire cars (which my trusty pak boat fits into) but I have no way of transporting kayaks. At the moment we will probably have to stay home as we simply can't get boats there

Does anyone know of anyone going to the conference who is part of a commercial outfit who would like to hire out a kayak or 2 for the weekend or have any other suggestions.

Thanks

p.s. I know I need to buy a car but have managed 11 years here without .

Sadly no car hire I've spoken to over the years don't hire cars with roof racks - they don't like people using them also generally.

Hire a van? Depanding what boats you have this might be a good (if more expensive) option.

Hia, my friend and I are sharing my GTX on all day Saturday as we both only need boats just for a few hours for different sessions, but if any of your group would like to borrow a GTX on Sunday, please let me know.
