Massive and brown, nearly river wide stopper. Great wave river right will run for days with water backed up in lakes.

Looking down stream from workingotn weir the river right bank has become
seriously eroded and largely under cut. The main area concerned goes from
the concrete area next to the weir about 40 metres down river.
The concrete area you can stand on to view weir is itself undercut (see
photos) more so towards the rear but would only be an issue at very high
river levels. The bank directly behind it has been eroded and the undercut
area runs around 30-40 metres down stream and is concealed at normal river
levels. The biggest danger is the amount of large tree roots hanging in
these undercut areas. If you paddle in the first catchment and are washed
out the river has a tendancey to try to push you into this undercut area so
PLEASE PLEASE BE CAREFUL.

I only noticed it when we went to scout the playspot on 12/02/07 and the
levels were abnormally low exposing the whole undercut area, I paddled it
yesterday 16/02/07 and levels were up but the under cut area was still
visible so I managed to take some photos of it.
Done any NE/NW rivers not on the site? PM me!

I hear that following the November 2009 floods, "Wooky Weir" is now no more. Maybe they will rebuild, but seems unlikely. Might be worth updating the main page to reflect this change.

Workington Weir has been totally removed and there is currently no play spot left.
I guess you can pull all the guides referring to this now.
