This is interesting information. They have also kindly provided information on river levels so responsible kayakers & canoeists can choose when to paddle with due environmental responsibility.

Raining hard in North Tyne area right now. Possibility the river will be going tomorrow. It has been super low for a while so I'm not sure how much rain will be needed to bring it up again... Will take a look in the morning.

Seems to be rising according to Fish Tyne, but nowhere near the magic 1' 8" yet!

Just taken a look at Wark. I'd say the level is medium lowish. Paddleable but not all that exciting.

or an easy (greade 2) river close to newcastle that is paddleable in october?

Ironically the only place I can find online which still has a copy of it is the Fishing website, Fish Tyne: http://www.tyneriverstrust.org/images/stories/downloads/BCU_accesstyne_agreement.pdf

The details of the agreement don't seem to be in line with Canoe England's current policy on access arangements, i.e. restrictions on canoeing should only be when there are legitimate, scientifically proven environmental reasons.

Having said this the comments on the tyne tour website would seem to indicate that the local BCU team would prefer people to stick to it: http://tynetour.co.uk/rivermap1.doc

I suggest you contact the BCU river advisor for their current viewpoint.

Edit: after a bit more searching I did find the Tyne Agreement on a BCU site here. Does this mean that the north east region are turning a blind eye to Canoe England policy?
