Mobile phone reception on the Isles of Scilly

Postby JP9 » Tue Jul 29, 2008 10:28 am

I’m off to the Isles of Scilly in September. I went there last May for a few days and I could not get mobile reception on my virgin mobile in St Mary’s, St Martin’s and Tresco.
(Perhaps some spots on the islands are better for reception; I was surprised my telephone wasn’t working in Hugh Town)
Which network works there?
Thanks
Jean - Pierre

I got a oneroam sim for just such a place.

there are 4 or 5 countries that do not charge incoming roaming fees.
Oneroam are Estonian sims so they will roam to any UK (or any European) network

Orange is a little patchy but seems to work to fine in Hugh Town and most of St Mary's.

O2 and Vodafone are best, I think they have masts on St Mary's up on telegraph. I use O2 and has good signal most places.
