Hi Folks!!
Long time no see...or should that be read??? mmm....dunno....
anyway, the reason for my brief visit to the familiarity of the online guidebook, I'm really interested in hiring a sea kayak and paddling around Mull, taking in Staffa and the Treshnish Islands on-route. I reckon it'd take me just over a week in good weather? is that a fair estimate? are there any local problems I should know about? By the way - I've never sea kayaked before but am level 3 in Open (nearly) and level 3 in Kayak Inland so I'm assuming transferability of my skills with learining about tides would see me right? I can't afford a guide/instructor and to be frank, don't really want one as the whole idea is self reliance - camping on the way. Any hints/tips would be very much appreciated!!
My life's gone a bit tit's up so anyone with my old contact details won't be able to get through so if anyone wants to e-mail me they can do so at work:
endeavourtrain@btconnect.com
I'll try to visit the site a bit more often so I can at least pick up any replies!!
Thanks all!! :D

Re: Paddling around Mull?
Nice to see you here again Mick.
Have you seen the articles on the reports page?
Mull is gorgeous...I can't see you'll have any worries as long as you watch the weather and dodge the ferries.

Thanks,
I've not got round to finding a hire place yet, apparently there's one in Glasgow? If I remember I'll to post the details as and when I get them.
Cheers

Oh?
If you're thinking of Highrange btw, they went out of business a while back.

Re: Mull
On the topic of paddling round Mull, does anyone know what the situation is on camping on Staffa or the Trishnish isles? Is camping allowed, ignored or discouraged?

camping....
If the camping is the same on Staffa and the Treshnish Isles as it is on Mull it's OK to camp.
I'm not sure where we would hire kit from? A friend of mine is looking into getting kit so I'll see what he comes up with!
Cheers

Re: no hire stuff yet....
Where in glasgow have you heard you can hire sea kayaks? I'm interested because I live in Glasgow and can't think of anywhere except perhaps Tiso, but they only have demo boats AFAIK. They certainly hire walking a ski equipment but I can't imagine them having kayaks for hire unless I've managed to completely overlook the fleet somehow :-)
There are probably paddlers in Glasgow with enough spare boats to hire some out!
