UKRGB financial details update

Postby Mark R » Thu Nov 01, 2007 8:11 pm

I noticed that Adrian Cooper linked from the Song of the Paddle site (which is going to start charging members!) to an old thread about UKRGB's costs. That thread is quite out of date, the site is quite a bit cheaper to run these days (despite having our own dedicated server) as our hosting is provided by an altruistic UKRGB member.

Annual server costs: £564 pa

Income from book sales: c£70 pa

Income from t-shirt sales: c£300 pa

Income from advertisers: £zero but we beg them for a bit of gear every year or two.

So ... I hadn't realised this myself up to now, but I make a much smaller loss on the site than I used to. All good.

I'd not even realised you could buy book sales from this site. (Thought it was just links to Amazon). Maybe time to advertise that page a bit more!

I get a paltry commission from Amazon, usually 3.98%. It was originally up to 15%, but Amazon changed it all. I get 10% from book sales via the Pesda Press buttons.

Perhaps a few more T-Shirt sales are needed to make up the £200 difference.

I view my purchase as my subscription/donation that comes with a free T-Shirt! In my opinion, this website is a better read and more informative than any of the magazines I subscribe too.

Feel free to put up a paypal donate button, I'm sure many users here wouldn't mind throwing you a few bob. It's not charity, this is a fantastic resource that they're currently getting for free...or something.

I will not be charging visitors to use UKRGB. Not now, not ever. Not because I'm a nice guy, but because it simply isn't what UKRGB is about. That's all.

Then at least to show my appreciation sir, should we ever meet in the pub, a free drink or 2 will be heading your way.

Many thanks

I am 5 foot 11, middle class but I'm hard. Al dente you might say. If you get that joke, well done, you are middle class as well.

Not if you've got nothing better to do than regurgitate them.

I'm not sure I would describe tom as half cooked, half baked maybe...

Was it a presentation on the article in this month's "mustache and leather"? Oh, I think I've said too much...
