Rivers near the Teifi

Postby Martyn Read on Thu Oct 26, 2006 7:20 pm

If I was paddling a section of the Teifi in the morning, which rivers might I fit in in the afternoon?

I'm looking for grade 3/4.

Hardly, some of those are hours away - what happens if he gets stuck behind a tractor!

Sawdde, Ifron, Doethie, Twyi & Ystwyth are the closest ones that I know of. Sure there are others but I'm not sure of the place names yet.

Most will need some decent rain, some is forecast.

Possibly a bit easier than your looking at but if theres a bit of rain it might also be worth you looking at the Gwilli (?). Couldn't find it on here but its on the welsh rivers guide. I only remebered it in reference to several childish jokes about 'g forces' willie. G force being a nickname of a paddling mate.

Paddled it at last years teiffi tour weekend when the teiffi was washed out, nice grade 3 (in my opinion) with a few decent waves to play on the way down, last year there were also two trees to dodge under.

Yeah, think the rivers I mentioned above are all more or less variations on grade 3/4 depending on section and levels.

Too late for this weekend but for future reference we managed to partake in the fun and games of the Teifi party and then paddle afternoons on the Tawe, an urban voyage down the Rhondda, and a pleasant couple of minutes down the Nant Clydach. All had just enough water (the Mellte was a little over 4 on the gauge so we saved that for a wetter day).

I was trying to say that this website has a whole bunch of info on that he could browse through at his lesuire. Also I think the Ystwyth is in the hours away catagory too.
