Hi,
I'm going to be staying really near Spean Bridge over the first week in April on a little family holiday thing. I know there are some pretty good rivers near there and was really wondering if there are any nice paddling folk out there who wouldn't mind one more joining them for the day (or several). I'll have my own car and would be happy to drive up to 2 1/2 hours from there to paddle.
I think I would find it really painful to be so close to the rivers and not be able to paddle all week.
Many thanks
Natalie

Re: At Spean Bridge first week in April
Isn't first week of April Easter week this year? If so I'm sure there will be plenty of groups around Fort William area.
I'm sure you'll find someone to paddle with. If you're staying at Spean Bridge then you're in the middle of some of the best boating in the UK if you get the weather for it.
Good luck.

When do you arrive? Might be up there weekend before Easter. What sort of rivers are you looking to paddle?

Re: At Spean Bridge first week in April
I was planning on driving up on Saturday 31st March, so first possible paddling day being the 1st. However, I could drive up after work on the Friday and camp somewhere on the Friday night in which case I could paddle on Saturday.
I would say I'm a grade 3/4 paddler. Highlights include the Pattack, Findhorn, Etive, and Moriston (though the Moriston was quite a challenge for me and I had to roll near the beginning, so really looking for something a bit easier than that one). There are others but I'm really bad with remembering river names. Overall I'm not so keen on large drops (I still haven't mastered the boof). I tend to prefer continuous rapids, boulder garden types. It would be so great if you were free that weekend.
I'll have my fingers crossed.

I can't tell you how happy that message has made me. I was really beginning to think I was going to spend a whole week in Scotland without a chance of a paddle.
Are you free tomorrow? If so the Garry's an option, or anything else you can think of.
