anyone heading for the Ubaye in July?

Postby French Erick » Wed Apr 21, 2010 8:33 am

I'm from there and will be there wanting to paddle in July. I'm an OC (spec boat), paddling about III the now (in Scotland) and working at getting better before the summer.
Just want to see if some groups wouldn't mind to have me tag along on the easiest sections (their warm-up day like Condamine-Jausiers section...).
I'm a born local who has taken up paddling late in life...I still know most guides and areas V.well, which might come in useful.
Cheers,
Erick

I guess I'm not an attractive prospect then =)...I'll try not to take it too personally.

Best bet would be to hang out at one of the popular campsites and you will easily find people to paddle with. Work up slowly. The campsites near the durance or argentirre slalom course may be better than the ubaye as many people don't stay there for long. That way you will always have somewhere to paddle that you can probably cope with. We always used to camp in barcelonette in the ubaye valley, you may see other boaters there.

Hi,

I'm in Chamonix from the 28th of June, then move to Annecy on the 11th then there for about 5 days, Le Tour coming thru.

Then I'm supposed to be going to the Pyrenees for ~18th July.

I know the Embrun/Argientiere area well, was a Raft guide for PGL in93 and have been back climbing and VTT in Embrun
since then.

I could do the St Andre - Lake De Serre Poncon Grade 2 (3) run in my open ? Or hire one for a couple of days ?
