We are in the process of trying to design and build our own club house. It is currently expected to be a two storey building, boats below with wet changing, showers etc, and club room and facilities (kitchen, gym, ergos, etc) upstairs.
We have all types of boats - K1, K2 through WW, polo and canoes.
Here are some questions that will hopefully draw on the huge experience available on this forum:
1) what design features would you amend in your exsting club/boathouse?
2) any pictures/description of any good points that you like
3) any thing to avoid ie something thought good but just didnt quite work out, was hugely expensive to maintain etc
4) can anyone share copies of accounts that show what the running costs are for a club/boathouse
5) having used your facilities, what would you want to now add to it
6) any other words of wisdom or advice?
Photos most probably best sent drect to myself at derek.playford@btinternet.com looking forward to your replies.

Re: HELP! - Clubhouse Design and Running Costs
From working at outdoor centres I have designed a couple of rack systems for Kayaks and I found that stacking kayaks on there ends (bow or stern) is best for space saving. however you cant do that with your K1 & K2 boats.
Also hauling them up to the roof on a rope system works as well. 2 planks on ropes and pullys you can get at least 6 kayaks on stored above your heads out the way.
Hope that gives you a couple of ideas
Cheers Andy

Have a look at the sport england site it has lots of uesful info and checklists

Also dont forget the you may have users who have restrited mobility as well as the need to have accessable faclilities.. This may mean a lift if you don't have and faclities and changing on the ground floor.
Make sure that you have good ventilation as prolonged storage of damp kit in can be a real problem with mold and the like.

Thanks Guys. Some useful tips.
Anyone built their own clubhouse recently or know of the cost of running one?
