Can anyone tell me if people still paddle this river while the centre is closed? Im thinking more about the bottom half than the top (if it makes any difference)?
Im assuming the dam still releases most days?

If the centre is open you must register first, as the site is managed, however if there centre is closed, and thus presently unmanaged at that time, it is quite clear that you can get on and paddle without registering. Any other stance would almost certainly contradict the WCA position on access. Note though there is staff in the offices on site, and you could simply ask them for clarification.

We paddled it last weekend on a great 16cumec release with no one else around. Just watch out that there are no WWSR courses going on on the top site (above chipper)

When I went, I was a stooge student on a PyB L5 course, so I think the instructors were "in the know" as it were... unfortunately though, the WCA waterline just says the centre is closed as well... maybe if you could find the dam control room number... not sure where from though I'm afraid.

My understanding is that it's Salmon spawning season and thats the reason it's closed. I only know this as I was planning to take a trip there this week and was told by the centre staff it was shut for that reason.

Re: Tryweryn
The information line is saying it's closed over the weekend, but is there likely to be a release. Has anyone been recently when the centre is closed or is it pot luck
