just by headbanger, up from Brother's Grim. It has created a constriction at low-med flows. It has been a while since I paddled the Roy Gorge, so I'm not 100% sure what has changed in the river. Any old photos of headbanger would be appreciated.
Brothers Grim is still runnable, but a flood would probably move some of the large chunks of debris!
Big rock fall on the Roy Gorge!

Rockfall on Roy
Hi Ken. I paddled the roy gorge on saturday and saw the rockfall. The rapid was dangerously undercut before but I think you might have survived a trip under it! As it is now, it is completely impassable and forms a horrendous boulder sieve/siphon across the whole river. I expect the river may have been higher if you ran it on sunday so you might not have seen what I saw. I know this gorge is commonly used by groups so I urge everyone to be cautious on approach as anyone swept into this will not escape alive. There is a reasonable photo of the old headbanger in the scottish whitewater guidebook first edition.

Roy Rockfall
I paddled this last month and agree with the opinion above, the rockfall is nasty at the lowish level we did it, missing the eddy river left above would be VERY serious indeed. Not sure what would happen at higher flows, but I'd advise extreme caution.

I've been meaning to post these up since I took them back at Christmas time on a very low water run. First is from upstream, second from above the rockfall taken from RL, third from downstream.
A friend I was paddling with reckons once the rocks have settled it might be alright in high water as it will form a pourover, but who knows what this will look like? As always, take a look and make your own decision on the day.

Wow - quite a serious rock fall there. Oh well, most used to portage Headbanger anyway, so I suppose it won't spoil the river too much.
