Capella 167 in Diolen. Silva 70p Compass fit.

Trying to Fitting a Silva70p compass in the deck recessed mount. My recess is not completely round, hence the compass does not fit in correctly.
Has anyone else had this problem ?
I guess the only option is grind or cut away the recess until it does fit correctly. then back repair the area from inside to rectify and damage and loss of material.

Try a square slice of Foam or softish plastic, think if a slice of bread with a round hole in the centre.
Then use longer screws. It will raise the compass a little, but leave the boat with it's inherent strength.

Seems a good option, even though it would mean lifting the compass 10mm higher than expected. Cheers Ade for a simple idea.
