ADVICE ON FITTING COMPASS TO SCORPIO

Postby seascape62 » Wed Jun 06, 2012 4:06 pm

I have bought the Silva Compass and about to fit to the Scorpio LV. Have spoken to a few people on advice for this. Many suggest applying sealant as you insert the screws to stop leakage. Other people suggest bolts?? And any advice on covering sharp edges of screws as they appear on the inside of the bulkheads? Any advice in general so I don't make a hash of it.....

I fitted one on my boat. Kari-Tek do a kit for them so you can use nuts and bolts instead of the self tappers that come with it.I think it is much better to use this kit.I used sikaflex to seal everything including a bit on the thread of the bolts as they passed through the kayak and it all worked a treat
