I am looking for a sea kayak / up scale tourer for a larger than life person
I use three white water/ river runner boats but have yet to find a sea kayak that I feek comfortable in due to size and weight...19 st and 6 ft 1, size 11.5 show etc.
Any recommendations???
I have seen the Wilderness Systems Pro 180 so if anyone has paddled that then I would like an opinion or it is a hybrid from South Africa which is a ocean going SOT with a ARX cockpit cover - sort of cabriolet sea kayak.

You might suit an Xcape X which is not as big but will accommodate your height & shoe size no problem. Still available from Sea Kayak Oban at £1895 which is last years price.

I'd certainly suggest trying an Xcape X - I'm in your size range and its ideal. Mike.

Re: Large Sea Kayak
Many of the HV - high volume, boats would be just fine - mostly it would depend on how much you wanted to pay for one. Also it depends on what kind of sea kayaking you wanted to do - a lot of HV boats are specifically designed to take large loads for overnight/multi day trips and ride quite high in the water for smaller paddlers and can be a bit twitchy unloaded - but at 19st paddler weight they'd actually be quite stable. Is it a plastic or composite boat your after? The plastic Easky 17 has a large cockpit and has generous weight handling capacity and is very stable - not the quickest boat out there but great for a range of paddling requirements. I suppose the best advice would be to target 2/3 boats and either find somewhere that'll let you try them out or ask onn the forum if anyone would be kind enough to let you have a go of one - I find the paddling community are quite generous and there should be someone out there who wouldn't mind. Hope this helps!

I am 6'4" and 20st and have size 11 feet, I have just taken delivery of the SKUK Romany S and it is a very nice fit, I also have an Explorer and that was very tight and I even found the explorer HV a problem but then I do have extra problems that make it a fight to get out of a cockpit.
The Romany is designed for larger paddles with feet like a clown and I would recommend it

Im 6ft 6 with size 12 feet and fit in a Perception Essence with no problems at all - my paddling buddy is 19 stone and he fits it as well. It costs £999 and paddles well.
