Re: Paddling on the South Coast
The temperature hit nearly -11C on the Friday night when that ice appeared; I was out running, it was certainly rather fresh. However, last night's precipitation arrived as heavy rain, along the Dorset coast; my run this morning involved the combined pleasures of slipping on ice and wading through flooded paths... http://runkeeper.com/user/markrainsley/ ... y/69495537

It's a balmy 8 degrees here on the Island & damp following yesterdays precipitation, but I'm sure some snow in London will mean that nothing can be delivered for the rest of this week, messing up the mail order element of our business!

It might be warm at your end of the Island but there was ice on the edges of the Straits yesterday morn. Granted it is a tad more tropical today though.

It is indeed pretty amazing - and no faffing around after your run/ cycle (or paddle?), you just click once and it goes online instantly. With another click, it can go onto FB etc.

Friends who own iPhones says that they run out of battery after 2-3 hours, tracking their runs. My HTC Sensation has no problems in this respect, seemingly.

I seem to remember several trips in similar conditions over the last 2 winters, this one has proved to be rather mild so far.

The shore was frozen over in our corner of Essex as well, unfortunately the snow means I am grounded totally.
The main roads here were okay yesterday despite around 15 + cm's of snow in our garden which was above the forecast, side roads are now slushy and so hopefully everything will return to normal

The harbour was frozen at West Bay in Dorset on Saturday (04/02/12), and we opted for a less icy river trip as the weather was worsening at sea, just to get a paddle in before returning to the harbour and having a little fun running up onto and breaking the ice, and had an excellent trip on the Sunday feeling quite hot compared to the day before, from West Bay to Golden Cap and back.
