And with the weather currently deteriorating the tension is building!

Just to keep us on our toes, he'll probably wait to update his blog until he reaches Dolgarrog :P

Puffin Sound at 13:49, although I'm not sure whether it is his blog or the forum that is an hour out, possibly my forum settings

Here is a somewhat epic update from Michal and Natalie, of their travels around Cape Wrath. With video and stunning pictures, if this doesn't inspire people to take up sea kayaking, then nothing will:

Looks like John is taking a battering in the weather - how frustrating to get pinned down so close to home!

My guess from Pete Baars facebook status 15 minutes ago is that he's not stopped.

"currently playing "Where's Willacy" on the North Coast of Anglesey. You'd have thought his red & white boat would be easier to spot than a bobble hat!!"

John had a tough day yesterday, wind slowed him a lot which meant he couldn't make the most of the tide. He spent the night at Porth Eilian, will be heading off later today for what will almost certainly be his shortest day on the water of the whole trip.

Considering how frustrated he must have been last night he was in good spirits when I found him hiding in the undergrowth.

He should finish sometime this afternoon, taking advantage of the ebbing tide.

Still some strong winds here today, but at least it's stopped raining (for now).

Just heard from John, he's hitting the water around Mid-day. He thinks he'll be arriving back at Cemlyn between 14:00 & 15:00, but even with such a short distance to the finish, there are a number of variables for him to contend with today.

Feel free to come and welcome him back, but please bring your own Pies & Cakes, there wasn't room in his boat to cater for everyone.

I've just had a report that John has been sighted passing Cemaes Bay on his way West to Cemlyn.

He's landed at Cemlyn. Apparently drinking Champagne, Guinness and Soup (but not necessarily in that order, or from the same glass).

Congratulations John, a great effort and a job well done.

Great stuff - I've really enjoyed his updates - amusing and amazingly modest, you wouldn't have guessed he was clocking super-human mileage and making the circumnavigation at Warp Factor 9, without wider knowledge.

Well done John - hope the trip was all you wanted it to be.

I loved this comment from the blog, and it's good advice:

Day 55 was across the Thames to Ramsgate, Day 56 (yesterday) was Ramsgate to just past Hythe/Folkestone. The map is up todate.

Weather is looking a bit rubbish from Thursday. Hope everyone out there stays safe!

Joe has been pinned down by head winds and is making slow progress along the south coast. He's reached Selsey Bill now. Doesn't look as though he going to get much help from the weather this week either. http://joeroundbritain.wordpress.com/

Gavin's making progress once again. This far he's managed to get from Southampton to Saltfleet Haven (Lincolnshire)....

Gavin must have crossed Joe going the other way at some point: I'm not sure where.

Ps. I created a UKRGB thread to dump more detail of this attempt: see here.
