Mike, are you doing this next year?
If so, do you have a date...?
Cheers...

Hi Mark,
Lot's of people have been asking this question. At this event someone came to me to say that they were going to pick up your baton but I had advertised a week before they had everything in place, I wish I could recall it who it was!
I am aware that these events are essentially your idea and personally I think it would be nice to see one in a different corner of the UK each year, then we would only have to run one every four or five years, perhaps you might then be tempted to run another in the south-west? I would certainly offer to help out where ever they are run, although next year seems to be the year of the wedding (this year was babies as I recall).
I have deliberately planned my courses next summer with a weekend spare in June (prime bird watching season in Pembrokeshire) to run another event. If no one steps up and advertises a date by the end of January then I will publicise the date and make the necessary arrangements.
I also ought to say that we've had some trouble extracting the money from the paypal account and haven't yet paid the two charities. I'm hoping to have this solved this week and will publish the final amounts donated as soon as it's done.

I'm claiming no ownership over or authority regarding them...

That's a great idea, on that basis I could be tempted to do another.

Those Caymen Island banks don't answer the phone during UK working hours, do they?

... still, credit where credit is due. They are a great event bringing like minded people together in order to raise money for two great causes and you thought of it first.

Re: West Wales Sea Kayak Meet
I'm very late in posting this, sorry guys. Final sums raised were...
£1084.62 for the RNLI (plus £271.15 gift aid)
£1084.61 for the Wales Air Ambulance (plus £271.15 gift aid)
£300 went to the Newport Playing Fields Association, for the use of their field and other facilities.

Thanks again to everyone who helped to make the event successful. If no one posts an alternate event by the end of the month then I will arrange another and let you know the date on 1st February.

Then I reckon we'll look forward to seeing you in Pembroke again later this year ;-)
That's a fantastic amount of money raised for some great causes. I hope the £300 to the playing fields covered their electric bill for the kettle! Their facilities felt positively luxurious by normal sea kayaking standards. Well done Mike for organising such a great event and not being too put off doing another.
