A couple of mates are interested in doing a 2 day course in moving water (eddies, tidal runs etc). After having looked at some of the photos on Anglesey Paddling's site I would have thought that the Menai Straights would be a great place to start. Any recommendations as to a coach for this (Anglesey Paddling will obviously be a possibility).
Thanks,
Rog.

Re: Menai Straits Coaching recommendations.
I did my 3 star with Roger from Coastal Spirit & it was great. He had us ferry gliding across the Menai against a strong current with a following sea on our sterns. It was a real eye opener & good practice.
We also went to the swellies for some breaking in & out, which made me nervous but was a good skill to practice too.
Roger also went through notes with myself & the other student so we could see what we needed to work on. I'd definately recommend him, (Oh, I just did (LOL)...

I went with James from adventure elements to the straits and learnt a great deal off him really nice guy. He's based right on the straits so his knowledge about there is fantastic. I would highly recommend him and he gave me a free t shirt aswell

Re:Adventure Elements
I've had all my sea kayak coaching from James at Adventure Elements.
He's brought me on massively and on one ocassion his training has saved me from a very nasty spill when I was out solo.
Talk of him being a nice bloke, we bumped into him on the beach at Rhoscolyn recently, had a chat then set off. He sent me a text that night asking if we had a good day out. I thought that was a really nice touch and really shows he has a genuine interest in the folk he trains.

I would have to highly recommend Olly Sanders http://www.rockandseadventures.co.uk/
You might not get a Tshirt but you will get some excellent coaching.
