The rubber outside of my well used ICOM M31 antenna perished and the antenna has snapped due to corrosion. New spares for the M31 do not seem to exist and ICOM and other sites only list antennae compatible with the M33, M71 and M87. Can anyone advise me on compatibility and also if there is a source of secondhand antennae around. There must be loads of dud radios with perfect antennae somewhere.
On another issue, ICOM has a stubby antenna for the M87, which would be handy for fitting in my pockets, anyone know if this would work?

Re: VHF antenna
Recently had the same problem. Bought one on Fleabay for less than £10 including postage.

Re: VHF antenna
Ukrivers comes up trumps again! I don't know why ICOM is so coy about antennae. The radio manuals just talk about 'the supplied antenna', without giving any details or serial numbers. Once I had your link I could see that some are a simple pin connection with a male threaded antenna, M31 M33 etc and some have a coax arrangement with the antenna having the female thread M71 M87 etc. Armed with this I also found one on ebay for under a tenner. Apparently a genuine ICOM part.

Re: VHF antenna
Ive had the same problem with Icom radios and both times I have sent them back to Icom they have returned them to me with new antennas which are a different design. It seems this must have been a design flaw and they have produced new antennas for there Vhf radios which will also fit the older radios.
