Got some nice ones there Nigel, I like no. 16, it makes the Sea King look very sleek :-)
I'm also glad you got the oil burning apparatus, I didn't even consider that!

Nice sunsets, I was sort of aware that there was some coloration in the sky (when I wasn't ready) - was there really that much or are some of them enhanced? I don't think I did as much with that sinking red globe....

Some of the exposures are little severe, did you say you were going to get a polariser custom made to fit your digital? Hopefully I've managed to cut down some of the reflections by polarising most of my shots - I'll just have to wait for them to come back! The only problem with using the polariser at sea is that you can't spend much time looking through the viewfinder rotating it to find the best effect, it's also a pain with the hood over the top!

Oh yes, and I'm sure 36 demonstrates my point about "Onion" pretty well :-)

No, Jim, only one of those images has been doctored, and that's the one of Geoff massaging is a***e in front of the fire. That was underexposed I presume due to light scatter off the smoke - which affected several other shots too.

I seldom use one exposure when I can take several! These are just the ones I think are most appropriate - they look fine on this laptop's screen, I haven't yet seen 'em on crt

I'm going to get a polariser afore the Alps this summer, just need to dig out a metric micrometer (mine's imperial!) to measure the lens barrel....

It's not so much an exposure thing as the old problem of middle of the day sunshine. The exposures work well but colours seem a bit washed out in some, and reflected light off the sea stands out a bit in others. I'm quite impressed with the fireside pix, although they do tend to understate the size of the fire somewhat :-) The one of Geoff warming his axe kind of typifies the whole fire arrangement - so intense you have to stand far enough back that whichever side isn't facing it gets frozen by the wind, leading to a rotisserie style of warming....

Of course it's all about compromise, I'm not sure how digital exposures work, but for me polarising sea borne wave scatter reflection generally takes 2 stops - that's either increasing my aperture and decreasing depth of field (look out for shots of perfectly sharp water with out of focus paddler behind) or increasing my exposure time, which in waves is obviously going to lead to camera shake. I shoot in sports continuous at sea and hope I point the focus spot on the right subject!

I like the one where you caught the redness from the fading sun on the boats at the Raffin campsite - I tried one like that at Mol Mor but I don't think I got what I wanted (by the time I got there the sun went behind a cloud, when it came back the colours were somewhat muted :-(

I'll need to look through them again when I have more time!
