Pfd advice

Postby Kayakingrick » Wed Mar 07, 2012 6:54 pm

Hi, after some advice. I having been kayaking for a very long time and change paddling when needed. I did replace my pfd a few years ago (palm axis). I have recently been having problems when getting wet i.e. on some manmande courses and on white water when I do swim, the pfd has started to lift and try to come over head when in the water everytime. this has never happened before. If the pfd does stay in place it does keep a afloat.

Would you say that this could be anidication to get a new Pfd? your thoughts would be appreciated

Be sure always to do the lowest set of side straps up first, these are meant to grip the PFD under your ribcage, and stop the PFD riding up once in the water. These straps are the most important on the garment.

Do these straps grip under your ribcage? May be your shoulder straps are too tight, so the PFD already sits higher than it should? Show us a picture.
