I've sent you an email. Recovered the boat, no sign of the paddle.

Oh fantastic, my mate will be so pleased, thanks a lot.
The Conway was on 7 on the gauge, we were eddy hopping on a section not to far from the class 5 and there were some branches caught up just below the surface which caught him by surprise and initially pinned him. He did a self rescue fine, and we did a boat chase and had to stop just before the class 5.
As for the car keys left in the boat, he got a spare brought up from London (ouch).
Thanks for the email. My friend lives in St Albans so not too far from you, he travels a lot in his business so I assume it will be easy for him to come to you. Normally he is a generious guy so I'm sure he will arrange some beers for you. I will pass his details to you and no doubt he will give you a call.
Again many thanks.

Not at all, glad we could help. Collection has been arranged for later this week. Fingers crossed the paddles turn up as well!

As for the paddles I had a call from someone early on the Sunday who had found them and put them by the side of the river, they left an answerphone message, alas my tossy mobile took ages to notify my of the message and it was only when I got home late on Sunday that I saw this. Otherwise I could have gone and collected them.
I've left my mate to speak more to the guy to see if the paddles are still around.
Incidentally at the end of the Saturday paddling we notified the police to say we had lost the boat in case they sent out a rescue team, they also notified coast guard incase the boat got sent out that far.
Oh and my last visit on the Conwy as we loaded up the boats I caught the strap buckle between another mates rear window and boot and shattered his rear window. We are a bit of a disaster group.
