Keeping valuables dry
What do you guys use to keep your keys and phone dry whilst paddling and without spending alot of money??
I was using a cheap roll and clip style bag untill last week when I got out and my phone was soaking.

Having a useable phone in your BA pocket is not to be underestimated.
I can get my iPhone 4S with a big rubber case on, and a car key in to it with no bother, and still use it!
Enjoy

What if you just ran a huge rapid in a gorge and need to ring the guys above to tell them its not a good idea. You have to take the phone out the case. Aquapac it is for me.

Yes, you would need to take the phone out in order to establish that you had no signal in the bottom of the gorge.

I often use mine in a gorge still inside the aquapac. At the less extreme side of the spectrum, its useful to have a soft case so you can use the phone with wet hands etc.

Had an Aquapac for like 6/7 years and still works as well as the first day I used it. Can't recommend it highly enough!

I generally use a two layer drybag system, but Im still not comfortable with my phone in there, maybe a peli case or aquapack would make me more comfortable (dont otterbox make an iphone hardcase thats waterproof?)

I've been using a "Proporta BeachBuoy" for a couple of years now, I like the fact I can use the phone when I'm on the water, either for calls or taking pictures. It's survived regular dunkings in all that time.

It's in the front pocket of my BA behind my sling, so anything that'll break the phone will probably take a few ribs with it too...

Aquapacs are good, however out of 4 that I had, im down to my last one. they all eventually failed on the seams, the last one that failed, trashed my phone with a shit load of water inside.
My phone lives in an aquapac, which lives inside a pelibox, with my car keys, wallet and contents of my pockets inside. No aquapac has lasted more than a couple of years use for me, whilst my small peli is probably ten yrs old.

Ortlebe case - Just a smaller version of the map case - Clear ones seem to be dryer than the black phone version.
Super dry and no hard parts.
Keeps a phone dry in my BA been using the same one for the last 4 years, The aqua packs I have had / used have all split where the soft seams meet the hard seal.

What do people think to this btw? I would put my phone in my Ba (maybe in a drybag as well, to be safe?)

I saw a rather unusual but clever way to keep car keys dry last week, it was popping them in a condom and tying it up. It wouldn't be the first time you seriously hope that it doesn't break!

Re: Keeping valuables dry
I use a motorola defy and just dump it in my damp pockets on the ouside of my dry gear, this keeps massive pressure surges off the phone which is happy in a wetish environment. Use a dumb car key on a string round my neck inside my dry gear and keep remote key at home or in the car.
Works for me.
