Re: India accident
Its a tragedy and I understand folks who want to get on the water when the outside temperatures soar to 40 degrees +.
We paddled the sections just below where this happened and also had unofficial permission from the forest department to do so. I guess those unofficial permits are going to be almost impossible anymore.
The Cauvery has crocs, wild elephant, big venomous snakes, harsh climate (the heat was killing, even in January) and the whitewater is Class 5 and 6 in Mekedattu.
There is a nice bunch of paddlers in Bangalore and they are a outstanding help for those who want to get on the rivers in Karnataka,India. Their paddling trip on the same section over this weekend & others is ruined as a fallout of the media coverage of this accident.
Hope the hurt and anguish passes for the family. Its terrible to lose ones own in a distant land.
