Tree Hazard on Lower Wye

Postby Pam Bell » Tue Apr 17, 2012 11:09 am

I don't know if it's me, but I can't find the relevant section of the Wye on River Guides. I've been emailed this alert - I have not seen the hazard:

To all canoeists using the River Wye from Whitney to Bredwardine.

Just before the bridge at Bredwardine on the upstream side there is a right hand bend. Just at the end of the bend there is a large tree in the main stream of the river. This is visible as you approach and can be avoided, but there are large branches submersed which you can’t see until you hit them and capsize.!

No sign this weekend, flooding has probably moved it on. Was quite a few trees wrapped around Bredwardine Bridge.
