from SOTP

A new campain from DEFRA was launched on the 28th March called "Love You River". It
aims to highlight the link between river health and water use, so that people understand and value water and take action to improve their local rivers and the environment around them. Drought, over–use and pollution threaten the health of our rivers and we all have a role to play in investing in their future.
Backed by Defra and a coalition of NGOs and water companies, the campaign celebrates the importance of rivers to local people – for their health, well-being, leisure and sport.
What's the bet that "leisure and sport" is not intended to include paddlers. #1.

Still on the subject of DEFRA and the previous thread on their Red Tape Challenge waterways focus, did anyone notice that Mr Steve Carrington took it upon himself to deliver a series of AT-like rants on behalf of the unacceptable face of angling. The best line was

We do own the river !!!!!!

Have I got this right - we should use them but not over use them, and this campaign wants us to either use them or not?

A certain steve carrington is doing a very good job of showing what the river users like ourselves are up against with some peoples attitudes.

That's a good one. Struggle to imagine that it can achieve any notice, though. Important thing (on the remote offchance anyone in power is paying attention) is to focus on the failure of Access Agreements...of course, it would help if CE weren't also returning to them.

Looks like one of the angling world's professional trolls. Talking of trolls, has our Garth popped his nose out from under his bridge?
