2012 British Columbia levels forecast

Postby cswalker » Sat Mar 17, 2012 2:19 pm

I was talking to one of my buddies who works with the BC Provincial Forest Service fire fighting division and their research and predictions are as follows:

Upper Fraser, Terrace, Babine's, Bulkely and Northern BC are at 172% average snowpack.

Whistler and lower coastals are at 134% average snowpack.

We have a 1.5 months of predicted snowfall to come increasing those percentages.

A cooler / wetter spring is predicted right through to July leading to a later and more than likely higher than average run off levels.

A ten year high in snowpack averages is currently in play leading to possible flooding especially the Upper Fraser area.

Could be a very interesting season here.
