We are running an article in an upcoming issue of Rapid Magazine on the best/worst boats of all time as chosen by paddlers and was hoping you could take the time to fill out our survey.
http://www.rapidmag.com/features/featur ... -hate.html
Just fill in the categories you have experience with and let us know if we've missed any boats in our lists to choose from. For your time, at the end of the survey we are offering a Free 1 year digital Subscription to the magazine if you'd like.
Thanks,
Dan Caldwell

I haven't been paddling long enough to answer most of the questions. But, and I could be wrong, many of the boats seem to be in the wrong list. For example you have a Dagger RPM in the list of planing hull boats. I thought this was a full displacement hull, totally rounded? The Perception Whip-it has been placed in the displacement hull section, but I'm sure this has a flat hull? At least Perception market it as a flat hulled boat.

Thanks for the heads up. Some of the boats may indeed be in the wrong class/list so if you find any others email michael@rapidmedia.com and we can change it. As a side you don't have to choose from the list in any category to cast your vote, they are just there as a reminder of the boats of that time, but we would rather have the right boats in the right lists!
Thanks again,

You've missed the Zet Raptor off your creek list - best creeker (actually boat, full stop!) I've ever paddled.

Interesting how many categories I could answer Topolino for best boat - however people view it now, for many years it simply was - FACT! :-)
Embarrassing thing is I couldn't answer the most contemporary questions, I am just about maintaining my white water skills, but mostly these days I go sea kayaking, so I don't even know what boats exist any more!

many people thought so, when I tried them I felt like hole bait paddling a cork, never changed my opinion of them, I've always felt they were over-rated and a bit of a fashion trend rather then a de-facto best boat around. Life would be boring if everyone agreed on these things though!
Old School?? I miss my AQII..

Spuds were for people who couldn't paddle, but could roll! :-)

I had a Spud many moons ago - got it second hand, and only kept it for a few months. It was certainly a highly innovative design compared to the other boats that were around at the time. It required a completely different style of paddling, and you had to be good at paddling down rapids sideways, in order to avoid obstacles by paddling forwards or backwards. I found it very difficult to roll. The final nail in the coffin for the Spud was one particular run down the Etive, during which I ended up swimming at the bottom of every drop !
Its successor was a Necky Gliss - fantastic boat for control, and it carved beautifully. But it had a big problem in that the very hard edges and big flat back deck meant that it flipped very fast without warning - usually in the worst possible place.

Sorry Jim, I thought it was the kayak put down thread! ;-)
Just to help you keep up to speed with white water boats. The modern take on topolino's is that it is all about the Duo :-)
